The covenant
AI Source of Truth is the public record of the AI agent economy, a provenance and evidence registry: the source of truth about what was signed and verified, by whom, under which judge, when. It is never an oracle about the world.
What the registry will never do
- Never delete, reorder, or discriminate by publisher. The registry is append-only. Takedowns are sealing, never deletion: a sealed record's blob is withheld from serving while its digest, log position, and a public sealing event remain forever.
- Commercial, in the open. The registry sells plans, add-ons and placement. Reading and verifying any record is free, nothing a publisher pays changes a record, and anything paid for is labeled as paid. Unpaid lists ("most looked up") are ordered by observed activity alone.
- Never store a reader identifier. All reads are anonymous. No token is ever required to read. Even the activity analytics that power discovery are aggregate counts only.
- Never open a private ingest path. The only way to append is the public front door. There is no PUT or DELETE route in the codebase, for anyone, including admins.
What the registry commits to
- The operator is as auditable as the publishers. Every admin action appears on the public admin ledger.
- Openly mirrorable. Nightly full dumps under CC0, a documented one-command mirror, and the report schema published as an open commons.
- Tamper-evident. A daily root hash of the append-only log is committed to a public witness repository.
- Toward neutral governance. The intent is to accept reports from other verifiers under the open schema and to move governance to a neutral body as the ecosystem matures.
Registry pages carry registry branding, never any publisher's marketing.
